One fun extra thing you can do while cruising on a Disney ship is decorate your state room door. I might have gone a little overboard this trip but I was excited to try out a few ideas. The first idea was just making little mickey ears with everyone’s name written on the hat. This idea went to the next level when I decided to make a little Donald hat for my mom’s Mickey ears (because this is her favorite character). I had a lot of fun with this one so I decided to try a few more. <!-more->
I LOVE how they turned out! All of this just out of some card stock and rubber cement.
Make sure to check out the current ship rules about hanging thing up on your door. Currently you must only use magnets, no tape allowed.
Mickey Ear Name Signs
Materials / tools
- Card stock (I used 65lb)
- Silhouette machine
- Silhouette cutting mat
- Silhouette Studio Program
- Scissors
- Rubber cement
- Adhesive magnet strip
Instructions
Use your Silhouette studio software to create the hats and cuts. Make sure to use a stencil cut for the names so it will all be in one piece.
After they are cut, remove them from the cutting mat.

Cut strips of yellow card stock so it can cover the name hole. Use rubber cement to glue it in place.

Once rubber cement is dry, rub off the excess.

Add an adhesive strip magnet to the back and they are ready for your cruise ship door!
